How can an omnipotent and omnibenevolent God exist if evil exists in the world?
There are some explanations that have been offered, the most interesting of which being that God grants us free will, and as a consequence of that free will, both good, evil, and everything in between can exist because of it. For God to remove evil as He deems it fit would negate the whole point or concept of free will - it is free will, after all. Even an omnipotent God does not simply remove evil at His will or His choosing, as this negates the whole idea of free will. But that is just one explanation that I find interesting.
The simple thing that we face as human beings is that we cannot even begin to answer this question.
The Book of Job is a wonderful examination into this issue. And for all of its merits, it ends with more questions than it does answers: God does not explain to Job his suffering, nor His methods or ways. He simply states that He is God and we, as humans, cannot begin to understand His ways.
I believe that is perhaps the best way to look at the problem of evil / injustice. We cannot understand His ways. We are in service to His plan, and His plan is a mystery to all of us.
I suppose the only thing that we can do is continue to try to be good people. We must, with all of our human flaws, continue to be good to thy neighbour and fear God. He works in mysterious ways that we will never fully understand, but that is not a bad thing. It is something that is a gift to us all that we have Someone watching over us, whether or not we feel human injustice is justified.
Don’t lose faith.
